Itching

  • Take a warm bath. Oatmeal baths can also soothe the skin.

  • New products, including body wash, hand wash, or detergents may cause a reaction

  • Try calamine lotion. If that does not help, try pramoxine lotion (e.g., Caladryl® Anti-Itch Lotion). 

  •  If the itching is only in one small area, use 1% cortico-steroid cream over-the-counter. › If the treatment is not effective, try diphenhydramine 25 mg (e.g., Benadryl®). 

  • When to call the office: if itching starts in the last few months of pregnancy and involves palms and soles
