Constipation
Increase fiber in your diet. Choose whole grains such as brown rice, quinoa, oatmeal and whole grain breads. Eat more legumes.
Eat at least 5 servings per day of fruits and vegetables.
Eat prunes or figs, or drink prune juice.
Drink plenty of fluids.
Increase activity or exercise
Medications:
Stool softeners- Colace (docusate sodium), Surfak, Doxidan
Stool softeners with stimulant- Peri-Colace, Senokot
Laxatives- Miralax, Dulcolax, Metamucil, Fibercon, Citrucel.
