Constipation

Increase fiber in your diet. Choose whole grains such as brown rice, quinoa, oatmeal and whole grain breads. Eat more legumes. 

  •  Eat at least 5 servings per day of fruits and vegetables. 

  • Eat prunes or figs, or drink prune juice. 

  • Drink plenty of fluids. 

  • Increase activity or exercise

  • Medications: 

    • Stool softeners- Colace (docusate sodium), Surfak, Doxidan 

    • Stool softeners with stimulant- Peri-Colace, Senokot

    • Laxatives- Miralax, Dulcolax, Metamucil, Fibercon, Citrucel.
